Getting to Us

  • From London (Approx 4 1/2 hours)
  • Take the M4 West over the Severn Bridge past Newport, Cardiff, Bridgend, Port Talbot and Swansea until you get to the end of the motorway.
  • Then the A48 to Camarthen. Once near Camarthen take the A40 signed to Haverfordwest.
  • Keep on the A40 passing St. Clears, Whitland until you get to a roundabout near Narberth, take the last exit on the roundabout to the A478 signed to Crymych.
  • Travel until you get into Crymych then in the middle of the town turn left signed to Penygroes.
  • Travel a few miles until you reach a T junction where you turn left signed to Eglwyswrw. Once in Eglwyswrw turn left at the T junction on the A487 signed to Newport. Go along road this road until you reach Newport, and once in the main street in the town, you will pass The Golden Lion pub on your right, and few shops including Havards Hardware on your left.
  • The next turning on your left will be Market Street, turn up this street and you will see a castle rising up ahead of you.
  • At the top of the street (very short) turn left where the road will curl around to the right then the left wrapping around St. Mary's Church which is on your left.
  • Once you are at the top (College Square) and the church is just behind you, there is a cul-de-sac sign more or less straight ahead of you, a white house faces you with bow windows and a blue door on the right of this turning, and the signpost says Gwaun Valley going to the left. Take this turning and pass a few houses on your left including a small one story little cottage on your left not far up the hill.
  • Just after this, there is a turning to the left but keep bearing to the right. You will pass 2 gates to a house called Castle Hill on your right.
  • There is a gate to a field straight ahead on a bend where the lane then takes a sharp right turn at the point where it stops being concrete and turns into a grass and earth track.
  • Go along here and you will see a gate at the end ahead which goes into another field. (You need to have the car on a very low gear, or 4 wheel drive active at this point to go up the last bit)
  • The lane here takes a very sharp turn left going steeply uphill with 2 concrete strips to drive on. Be careful and mount onto the 2 strips, (try not to go off the edges) and go up to the top where the house is on your right.
  • There is nothing further up ahead apart from a footpath to the mountain, so no other vehicles will be coming up. When you go through the big gate to the house walk round to the left where you have the key to the back door.
  • When you are at Stonehill please be aware of the sheep or horses who might be in the fields around the house, keep all gates shut. On the mountain there are both horses and sheep roaming free so please keep dogs under control and respect it all.
